SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – After starting out the season with four straight wins, the Cameron women's tennis team has lost two of their last three matches, as they fell to the 20th ranked Drury Panthers Monday, 7-2. The 31st ranked Aggies are now 5-2, while Drury moves to 11-1.
The Aggies started out the match down 3-0, after falling in all three of their doubles matches. Paula Gutierrez and Eugenia Sanchez fell 8-4 in the one spot, while Samantha Wood and Dejana Veljic lost 8-0 in the three spot. In the two doubles match, Angie Torres and Magdalena Kovinic battled tough but lost 9-7.
In singles, Gutierrez and Wood earned the only points for Cameron, as Gutierrez won 0-6, 6-3, 10-4 in the one spot, while Wood got the 6-2, 2-6, 10-8 victory in the three spot.
Cameron will remain in Springfield for their next match, as they take on Southwest Baptist Tuesday at 1 p.m.
