BOLIVAR, Mo. – The #19 Cameron men's tennis team dropped a heartbreaking match at #34 Southwest Baptist 5-4 on Tuesday.
Cameron reached game point five times on the Bearcats but couldn't close things out for the win to drop to 6-5 this season.
In doubles, CU provided an early edge after wins in the two and three slots.Â
Mateo Velasco and
Felipe Oyarzun won 9-7 in the two slot,
Florian Kartner and
Andres Velasco came out ahead 8-3.
Despite the early advantage for CU, they would only get wins in the five and six slots, while SBU took the top four. Both
Dennis Merdan and Oyarzun gave the Aggies a chance for a win but they would both
fall in three sets.
Mateo Velasco won 6-2, 6-1 in the five slot, and
Dean Weigelt took the six slot 7-6, 6-0.
Cameron will remain on the road to face Harding on Thursday at 10 a.m.
