Reyes' bat drives CU to 7-6 win at ENMU

PORTALES, N.M. – A four RBI game from Jonathan Reyes gave the Aggies an offensive boost to carry them to a 7-6 win at Eastern New Mexico on Friday night.

The win is CU's second in 10 ties at Eastern New Mexico and their third Lone Star Conference victory in a row; Cameron will move to 10-13 overall and 4-8 in league play.  Eastern New Mexico falls to 5-15 and 1-8 in the LSC.

Cameron knocked in a season high 15 hits against ENMU pitching, with Reyes having three, and four others adding a pair.

Despite the hits, CU left 13 batters on base on Friday, and they trailed 2-0 until the fifth inning where Cody Knight and Brandon Wright both had RBI singles to tie the game at two each.

Cameron kept things going in the sixth with two outs before Tyler West and Reyes added RBI singles to give CU a 4-2 advantage over ENMU.   However, the lead was short lived and the Aggie defense would cough up two unearned runs to allow the Greyhounds to tie the game at four.

After a scoreless seventh, the Aggies opened the eighth with a double and walk that would lead to a three run homer by Reyes to put CU up 7-4. In the bottom half of the inning ENMU threatened again and managed to get runners on second and third with one out.  A triple to center field allowed the Greyhounds to get within one before the final two batters would strike out.

CU went scoreless in the top half of the ninth but ENMU would go down in order in the bottom half allowing the Aggies to win their tenth game of the season.

Codey Upton (3-0) went 7 2/3 innings and allowed six runs (four earned) for the win, Deven Youngstedt recorded the final four outs for his second save of the season.

Both teams will return to the field on Saturday for two seven inning games starting at 2 p.m.
