PORTALES, N.M. – Aggie pitching held Eastern New Mexico to just seven hits as they split a double-header with the Greyhounds on the road on Saturday. Cameron, who is now 11-14 and 5-9 in Lone Star Conference play, lost the pitching duel in game one falling 2-1, but exploded for 10 hits in the 8-0 game two win.
In game one,
Jordan Dailey got the loss and is now 1-3 on the season after going five innings and giving up a run in the fourth and fifth inning while allowing just four hits. Daily struck out five ENMU batters, while
Logan Fanning pitched a perfect sixth inning.
The Aggies only run in game one came in the third inning when
Cody Knight drove in a run on a groundout. CU also had four hits in the first game, with
Jonathan Reyes collecting a pair of knocks, and
Russ Colgan and
Tyler Cook adding the other two.
Dirk Masters pitched a three hit, seven inning shutout in game two, striking out seven and just walking one Greyhound batter, to give him his third win of the season.
Cameron scored a run in all but the fifth and seventh innings. They opened the game off with Reyes scoring a run on a wild pitch in the top of the first and then
Tyler Palmer had an RBI single in the second.
Brandon Wright and
Justin Winters both drove in a run in the third inning, while Palmer hit his first homer of the season and Wright singled in another to add two more to the Aggies lead. Cameron put up another two spot in the sixth as Wright drove in a pair on a single to left field.
Tyler West, Reyes, Wright, and Palmer each had two hits, while Wright drove in four runs and Palmer had a pair of RBIs, and Reyes scored four times for the Aggies.
Eastern New Mexico is now 6-16 this season with a 2-9 LSC mark.
The two teams will meet again on Sunday for the finale of the four game series, with first pitch set for noon.
