LAWTON – Cameron batters were silenced for four total hits in a doubleheader sweep by Texas A&M-Kingsville on Sunday afternoon. The Javelinas would take the first game 8-0 and 1-0 in the night cap.
Dirk Masters rolled through the early innings allowing one run but hit trouble in fifth and the flood gates opened for TAMUK as they put up five runs on CU relievers. Cameron batters had a difficult time figuring out Javelina starter Matt Terrones who allowed only three hits in the complete game shutout.
Masters was charged for the loss (2-3) with three runs given up (two earned), and he struck out nine batters.  Â
Tyler West,
Matt Nilmeyer, and
Justin Winters were the only Aggie batters to collect a hit.
In the night cap, the Javelinas pushed across an unearned run in the second inning and with the exception of a
Justin Winters walk in the third inning it would take until the sixth where CU knocked in their only hit of the game off a
Nate Hale double that hit the left field wall.
Javarias Banks had a solid outing on the mound with only three hits given up and seven strikeouts, while giving up an unearned run but was charged for the loss.
With the losses the Aggies are now 7-11 overall and 1-6 in Lone Star Conference play, Texas A&M-Kingsville is 11-7 and 5-2 in league play.
Cameron and Texas A&M-Kingsville will close out the four game series on Monday at 1 p.m.Â
