LAWTON – Cameron beat the rain and Texas-Permian Basin 7-0 in the program's first match in 13 days on Friday afternoon.
Â
The Aggies were not slated to have such a long break in-between matches but rain this last Monday wiped away a showdown in Lawton with Midwestern State.
Â
Cameron didn't need much time to knock off the rust against UTPB after getting their first doubles sweep since March 7 at CSU-Pueblo and from there the Aggies never looked back.
Â
Both
Felipe Oyarzun and
Mateo Velasco only would drop one game against their UTPB counterparts.Â
Dennis Merdan won 6-2, 7-5 in the top-singles slot and Joao Faendeiro came away with a 6-2, 6-4 victory in the three-slot.
Â
Cameron's five and six singles slots would both go unfinished.
Â
With the win the Aggies are now 13-7 overall and Texas-Permian Basin will fall to 6-10.
Â
The Aggies will turn around and face UA-Fort Smith in Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
