LAWTON – A day after being forced off the court by rain and not being able to finish their match against UTPB, the Aggie women's tennis team took down Arkansas-Fort Smith 5-2. The win puts CU at 13-7 on the season.
Cameron fell behind in the match early, as they won just one of their doubles matches. The pairing of
Angie Torres/
Eugenia Sanchez won in the two doubles spot 8-6, while the one pairing of
Samantha Wood/
Magdalena Kovinic lost 8-4 and
Paula Gutierrez/
Dejana Veljic fell 8-3 in the three spot.
The Aggies made up for their doubles play by winning the first four singles matches to get to five points first. Gutierrez and Kovinic both won their singles matches in two sets, while it took Torres and Wood three sets, by they also got wins.
Sanchez and Veljic did not finish the match as the two teams were playing the first to five to get off of the court before more bad weather hit.
The next time the Aggies hit the court will be when they compete in the Lone Star Conference Tournament, which will be held in Lawton, Okla. at the Streich-Henry Tennis Complex, April 24-25.
