LAWTON – The Cameron women's tennis team fell 5-0 in the Lone Star Conference Championship duel to Midwestern State on Saturday afternoon in what will more than likely end the Aggies season.
After rallying back from a 3-0 hole out of doubles for the first time in program history on Friday against Texas A&M-Kingsville, the Aggies were forced to handle the same task when the Mustangs took all three doubles lots.
In singles play, Cameron would fall quickly in the number-6 slot 6-2, 6-1, and in the number-4 slot in straight sets to let MSU clinch the tournament title.
Â
At time play ended,
Paula Gutierrez was ahead 6-3, 0-1 in the top slot and
Angie Torres was in the third set (0-6, 6-2, 1-0).
Â
Cameron will drop to 14-8 overall and Midwestern State goes to 16-6 and repeated as tournament champions.
