WICHITA FALLS – Cameron relied on the bottom half of their singles lineup to rally past Newman 5-2 in the NCAA South Central Regional Semifinal in Wichita Falls on Saturday.
In the four vs. five seed matchup the number-45 ranked Jets came away with two points out doubles play with 
Dennis Merdan and 
Joao Fazendeiro winning 8-6 in the number-2 slot. 
When the match switched over the singles play, Meteo Velasco tied the duel at two each with a 6-2, 6-1 win in the four-slot, and 
Angelo Lencioni put the number-29 Ags ahead 6-2, 6-0 in the five slot.   After a half hour, Fazendeiro got CU one point away from advancing by winning 6-4, 6-2 at the number-3 slot. 
On courts one and two, 
Dennis Merdan and 
Felipe Oyarzun both where in a third set while 
Iustin Baciu fought off a set three with a 6-2, 7-5 win on court six to push CU into the finals.  Merdan and Oyarzun's matches would be halted with Merdan up 4-3 in set three, and Oyarzun tied at five each.
Cameron will climb up to 15-8 this season and with the loss Newman ends their year at 17-11.
With the win over the Jets, Cameron will now face Midwestern State at who beat the Aggies two weeks ago in Lawton 6-3.  The Mustangs have a 16-5 overall record and is the region's top-seed. 
The match between the Aggies and Mustangs will start at 2 p.m.
