The Opponent:Texas A&M Kingsville 5-3 (0-0 LSC) | Sept. 18 at 7 p.m. |
Live StatsLooking back: Cameron was perfect last weekend winning two matches on each day in Durant and Ada to bump up their overall record to 8-0 and they are last undefeated program in the Lone Star Conference.  The last time they started with a same record was in 1998 where they won the LSC Tournament Championship in the Aggie Gym. On Saturday they were put to the test and came out on the better end of a pair of five set matches. This is the second time under head coach
Qi Wang that the Aggies won two five set matches in a row and 12th time in program history. Additionally, the last time a Cameron team won a pair of five set matches in the same day was on Sept. 2, 1995 in Denton, Texas, and on Oct. 14, 1994 was the only other time this event happened.  Only once during the modern volleyball era in 1988 that a CU team took three five set matches in a row.
Â
How it happened: The Aggies opened the tournament by holding off a late match rally from Southern Nazarene to win in four sets, 25-18, 25-17, 22-25, and 25-20. Senior
Kat Evans led the Aggie offense with 16 kills and had 16 digs. Freshman
Tori Luckenbill also had a double-double for the Aggies with 33 assists and 10 digs. For the second match of the day, the Black and Gold took a 3-1 victory over William Jewell, 25-20, 25-17, 23-25, and 25-20. The Aggies had 31 kills versus nine errors against the Cardinals. On day two, Cameron staged a late comeback to best Southern Arkansas in five sets, 20-25, 25-17, 21-25, 25-23, and 15-12. Evans led CU again with 16 kills and 14 digs. Luckenbill nabbed her third double-double match in a row with 42 assists and 15 digs. To close out the tournament, CU won a five set nail biter against Fort Hays State, 25-23, 20-25, 25-13, 23-25, and 15-10. Offensively,
Kendra Adams and
Kat Evans led the Aggies in kills by adding 13 each with
Kayla Allen right behind them who added 12 and achieved a team high .455 hitting percentage. Evans also earned her sixth double-double on the season by contributing 16 digs.
Setting the stage: Cameron will take their longest trip of the season to open LSC play at Texas A&M-Kingsville. The Aggies swept the home-and-home series with the Javelinas in 2014 and last time out in Kingsville, Cameron made an improbable 2-0 set comeback with
Kat Evans netting a career high 26 kills. Cameron's win secured the number-7 seed for the LSC Tournament to face Texas Woman's who the Aggies would beat the following week.
Â
Statistically, the Javelinas are eighth in hitting percentage and just behind by .001 from first in opponent hitting percentage (.141), with the Aggies holding the top spot.  In average kills per set they pick up just below 13 while are holding teams to under 11. Offensively, they have three primary hitters, Valarie Moehrig, Ashley Bukowski, and Kristal Fasion who all average about nine kills per match. Brett Zaccardo was named LSC Defenisve Player of the Week after recording 75 digs during their home Invitational to average 5.77 per set. She helped hold the Javelinas' opponents to a .125 attack percentage, contributed 13 assists and posted two contests of 20 or more digs.
Â
Since the 1988 season, the Aggies are 21-10 when facing Texas A&M-Kingsville and 7-5 on the road.
