PLANO, Texas -- Cameron could not turn around a double sweep and fell to Tyler Junior College 5-4 in the team's spring opener on Thursday afternoon.  The Apaches, entered the match with the top-ranked NJCAA singles player and ranked number-2 nationally. Â
The number-19 NCAA Division II ranked Aggies fared better on Thursday compared to their meeting in 2015 with TJC beating CU, 7-2 in Plano. Â
Cameron's two and three doubles groups both fell 8-4 but the pairing ofÂ
Mateo Velasco and Felipe Oyarzun in the top slot pushed a TJC duo who was ranked number-2 nationally but they dropped their match 9-7.Â
With a three point hole, the Aggies would need to win five of the six singles slots.  Cameron picked up three set wins from Joao Fazendeiro,Â
Mateo Velasco, and Oyarzun along with Vinicius Santos coming up with a 7-5, 6-2 victory in his Aggie debut.  However, they wouldn't get a fifth singles victory falling 6-4, 6-4 in the top-singles slot and 7-5, 6-3 in the number-5 slot. Â
The win over the Aggies will put Tyler Junior College at 1-0 for the season.Â
Cameron (1-1)Â will return to the courts on Friday at 1 p.m. to face #8 Collin College.Â
