Cameron rallies back to split doubleheader with #17 West Texas A&M

LAWTON – Cameron split a doubleheader with #17 West Texas A&M on Sunday afternoon with the Buffs taking game one 6-3, and the Aggies rallying back from three runs down to take the nightcap 6-3 at McCord Field.
With the split, the Aggies are now 13-4 overall and 2-4 in the Lone Star Conference; West Texas A&M is 15-5 and 4-2 in the LSC.

In the opener, Cameron took advantage early getting a runner on off of an error and a single to put two on.  Russ Colgan singled in a run to score Tyler McKinzie in from second and a double steal with runners on the corners allowed Brandon Wright to swipe home plate to go up 2-0 on the Buffs.

After two scoreless innings, WT overtook the Aggies with four hits and four runs; in the bottom half of the inning Jonathan Reyes clipped a run off the Buff lead with a RBI single down the first base line.   In the sixth, WT picked up two insurance runs off an infield single and a ground out to move to 6-3.

The Aggies would go scoreless in the sixth and seventh to drop the opening game of the series.

West Texas out-hit CU by three with nine hits; Reyes had two hits for the Aggies.

Bryan Belote (2-2) was charged with the loss going 3 2/3 innings with three strikeouts, Logan Fanning and John Millan both came out of the bullpen going 1 2/3 innings.

WT's Austin Moore (4-1) tossed a complete game with nine strikeouts.

The night cap was a pitcher's duel until the fifth inning where WT loaded the bases with no-outs; Cameron would escape the inning without much damage, but the Buffs would score the game's first run.  WT added to their lead in the sixth scoring a run off a passed ball and a single to right field.  

In the bottom half of the inning, Cameron put runners on second and third with one out; a CU ground out scored one, and a WT passed ball sent Tyler McKinzie in from third to make it a 3-2 ballgame.  McKinzie was big for the in the seventh, hitting a double with two outs to put CU ahead 4-3; Brandon Wright followed up and added CU's fifth run of the ballgame off a single to right field.  

Collgan opened the eighth with a triple, and Reyes hit a sac fly for the game's last run to put the Aggies up 6-3.

Dirk Masters started the game going 5 1/3 innings with six strikeouts; Matt Glassmann (3-0) finished the game tossing 3 2/3 scoreless innings with three strikeouts.

McKinzie and Wright both had two RBI games with the Aggies getting eight hits.

Kyle Tinius (3-1) from West Texas was charged with the loss.

The Aggies and Buffs will square off on Monday at 1 p.m. with a doubleheader to close out the series.
