SAN ANTONIO, Texas –
Cullen Stahl and
Zander Winston came away with top-10 finishes at the St. Mary's Rattler Invite on Tuesday with the Aggies coming in sixth place.
Stahl moved up ten spots from his Monday finish and was tied for seventh with a 217 (73+73+71) and Winston was one shot back tied for tenth place (70+75+73). The finish for Winston is his fourth top-10 in a row after placing in the top-2 in his last three tournaments.
Final ResultsThe Aggies remained in the same spot they finished Monday's two rounds in with an 879 (291+295+293).
Tuesday's final round was delayed for two hours due to morning fog in the San Antonio area. Indian Hills CC who is number-2 nationally in the Junior College rankings came away with a runaway win with an 851, beating St. Edward's by 19 shots.
Weston Ward was the third highest finishing Aggie golfer with a 222, carding 74s in all three rounds. The Cache native was playing in his first invite for CU in three years and finished tied for 29th place.
Daniel Nielsen made his spring debut tied for 33rd, one shot behind Ward (75+73+75);
Dario Gabriel rounded out the CU's grouping tied for 44th carding a 227 (74+78+75).
Cameron left the course ranked third in pars (167) and birdies (44); Nielsen led the team with 37 pars, and Stahl had a team high 12 birdies.
The Aggies beat out the two other Lone Star Conference programs at the invite with Midwestern State in eighth and West Texas A&M placing tenth.
Indian Hills' Jackson Bugdalski and Henderson State's Mauricio Lira shared the individual title with a 205.
Cameron will have a weekend off before they visit Austin, Texas on March 28-29 for the St. Edward's Invitational.
