LAWTON – Strong doubles play for the #15 Aggies paved the way to a 7-2 win over #28 Southwest Baptist on Thursday.
The win moved Cameron to a perfect 6-0 record at home this season and they have won six in row overall.
Thursday's doubles competition featured an ITA top-30 meeting in the top-slot with CU's
Felipe Oyarzun and
Mateo Velasco carrying a #18 ranking beating SBU's #30 Chris Boldig and Sherif Abohabaga 8-1.
Cameron's three doubles wins opened the door in singles play against the Bearcats who challenged the Ags in the four and five slots. Oyarzun and
Mateo Velasco rallied back from set-two losses to seal the Cameron win.
Joao Fazendeiro won 6-3, 6-3 in the two slot and
Bruno Babic took the six slot, 6-4, 6-2.
With the victory the Aggies are now 8-2 overall, Southwest Baptist falls to 4-4.
Cameron will remain at home to face Western New Mexico on Saturday at 11 a.m.
