No. 10 Cameron halts Javelina streak, record first LSC win

KINGSVILLE, Texas – No. 10 Cameron picked up its first Lone Star Conference win on Sunday afternoon, defeating Texas A&M-Kingsville 7-3 in the fourth game of the series. The Aggie victory halts a ten game streak for the Javelinas who are now 10-4 on the season.

The Aggies move to 12-3 overall and 1-3 in the LSC.

Logan Fanning (2-0) recorded the win on the mound, striking out four and allowing three hits and a run. CU's starter Codey Upton fanned eight for CU's 12 total.

Cameron accounted for eight hits with Bronson Pulgados and Cody Bower each recording two on the outing.

Cameron got on the board first in the third inning as Bower hit a leadoff double and would score on a sacrifice fly. With two outs, two Aggies crossed the plate unearned for the 3-0 advantage following a Javelina fielding error.

The Javelinas were held to two hits until the bottom of the sixth when TAMUK recorded four hits including an RBI triple and single. TAMUK would tie it up at 3-3, scoring on an Aggie throwing error.

Cameron took back the lead in the top of the eighth, scoring on an infield throwing error, and Cole Williams hit a two run homer, bringing CU up 6-3. Cameron's defense proved solid in the bottom, retiring the side with two Javelinas in scoring position.

An RBI double in the ninth tacked one more on for the Aggies, and they would take the game 7-3 with a three up, three down bottom half.

The Aggies will return to McCord Field March 11 to continue LSC action with a four game series with West Texas A&M.
