AMARILLO, Texas – Cameron swept Texas A&M-Commerce 5-0 in the Lone Star Conference Men's Golf Championship semifinal and will play Midwestern State on Tuesday for their eleventh league championship.
Day One Results
The championship was adjusted from Frisco, Texas to Amarillo and hosted by West Texas A&M due to severe rains preventing access to parts of the golf course. Additionally, with the location change, Sunday's practice round, and the first round was cancelled. Monday's team seeding was based on GolfStat rankings with CU being given the top-seed.
In match play, the Aggies had no trouble with the Lions with all five of CU's players finishing at-least two strokes ahead of Texas A&M-Commerce.
Daniel Nielsen won by three-shots and carded a tournament low 72,
Zander Winston finished two shots ahead of A&M-C and scored a 73 matching
Cullen Stahl's score who won by four shots.
Weston Ward had a 74 to best A&M-C by six-shots, and
Dario Gabriel scored a 75, which was four shots ahead of his Lion counterpart.
On the other side of the bracket, Midwestern State and West Texas A&M had two wins and one even. The tiebreaker was settled by stroke differential for team ties using all five players.
The Aggies have won the last two league titles since moving to match play in the LSC Championship with four golf programs.
Cameron and Midwestern State will faceoff on Tuesday for the league title with West Texas A&M and Texas A&M-Commerce playing in the consolation bracket.
