LAWTON –  Cameron captured a 1-0 shutout that went to extra innings but would fall 8-2 in the night cap for the Aggies' final home double header against Angelo State on Sunday.
Â
Game one entered extra innings as the contest remained scoreless through the tenth inning. In the fifth inning the Aggies threatened to score as
Russ Colgan attempted to advance off third on a single up the middle by
Nate Hale, but was caught out at home from the center field throw.
Â
Cameron defended the top of the seventh as ASU had bases loaded with one out but two straight fly balls retired the inning.
Â
In the bottom of the tenth with two outs, the Aggies had runners on first and second when
Cody Bower hit into the infield but an error by the shortstop allowed the ball to enter outfield territory with Hale scoring on the play for the 1-0 win in extra innings.
Â
Hale batted 3 for 4 on the day of the Aggies' five hits. ASU matched with five hits against CU's starter
Bryan Belote who pitched eight innings before
Jackson Tetreault (3-1) came in for two innings of work and the win after holding the Rams hitless and striking out four.
Â
For the nightcap, ASU got on the board first with an RBI single to left field in the first inning.
Â
The Aggies would tie in the bottom of the third on a single themselves and take the 2-1 lead as
Brandon Wright reached on error by a muffed throw from short stop to first base, and
Jonathan Reyes scored on the play 2-1.
Â
However, a sacrifice fly and single to right center would allow ASU to take the lead back 3-2 in the fourth. The Rams would further their advantage to 8-2 by the top of the ninth to take the game and series 2-1 and the season series 5-2.
Â
ASU committed four errors on the game to CU's three. The Rams out-hit the Aggies 12 to five with CU's starter
Matt Glasmann (4-3) being charged with the loss after pitching 3.1 innings and allowing two hits and three runs.
Â
Cameron remains one game ahead of Tarleton State in the Lone Star Conference standings with a 15-17 league record and is 27-19 overall.
Â
The Aggies will wrap up the regular season at Eastern New Mexico beginning Friday.
