EDMOND, Okla. – The Cameron baseball team dropped a 7-3 contest at Oklahoma Christian on Friday, which snapped a six game streak for the Aggies.
While Cameron struck first to hold a 3-0 lead by the second inning, they would go hitless through four frames and record just six total hits in the game. The Eagles achieved ten total hits, recording three each in the third, fifth and seventh innings where they scored their seven runs.
Micah Kaaukai reached base on every at bat. Â He hit 2-for-2 with one run scored and also reached on two walks and a hit by pitch. Additionally, he had the Ags' only stolen base.
Oswaldo Godina also recorded two hits and had one RBI.
All three of CU's runs were unearned and started in the first frame when with two outs
Anthony Acevedo reached on error to score one and next Godina hit an RBI single. During the second inning, Kaaukai singled to center field but an error allowed
Haydon Bogard to cross home for the 3-0 advantage.
OCU started their scoring in the third inning with a two run double and then took the lead in the fifth with a pair of RBI singles. They furthered their advantage in the seventh by plating three while the Aggies went hitless from the fourth through seventh innings.
Cameron had just one hit apiece in the eighth and ninth innings and didn't score again to fall 7-3.
Reid Garrett (1-2) was charged with the loss after 6.2 innings of work where he allowed seven earned runs and nine hits while striking out seven.
Andrew Garza came in to pitch 1.1 innings allowing just one hit.
OCU's Dalton Rentz (3-0) earned the win on the mound.
Cameron is now 10-2 while OCU moves to 7-6. The Aggies and Eagles will close out their series Saturday with a noon double header start at McCord Field.
