LAWTON, Okla. – The Cameron softball team won 3-2 in a pitcher's duel against UT Permian Basin on a chilly windy Friday afternoon. The Aggies are now 13-4 overall this season and 3-1 in Lone Star Conference play.
UTPB got on the board first, as Cindy Juarez drove in two runs on a homer to left field in the top of the second. Cameron answered an inning later with three runs of their own in the third. After a two out triple from
Bethany Hines,
Paige Daino drove a ball right over the short stop to drive in CU's first run of the game. Daino came all the way around to score on a double from
Breezy McComas to tie the game at two runs apiece. CU took the lead via a RBI single from
Callie Busby, making it 3-2.
The two teams combined for just three hits in the final 3.5 innings, as Hines recorded her ninth win of the season, recording 13 straight outs before a two out single in the ninth broke the streak. She was able to retire the next batter to end the game.
