Game two looked like it would be like game one from the start, as CU took an early 3-0 lead in the first. Daino started it off by hitting her sixth homer of the season, a two run shot that scored K. Smith, and then McComas came around to score on an error after walking earlier in the inning.
After Tarleton State got on the board in the top of the third, Cameron scored their fourth run in their half of the fourth, as McComas got hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, making it 4-1.
Both teams would go scoreless in the fifth and sixth innings, and then TSU made it interesting by first scoring on a RBI double from Nyka Wood to cut the CU lead in half. Hines then came in to close out the game a batter later, but walked back-to-back batters to give the TexAnns their third run of the game. After a short team meeting at the circle, Hines locked it in and struck out the final batter to secure the 4-3 win.
Alyssa Osterdock is now 6-3, as she went 6.1 innings, giving up just one earned run on nine hits. Hines recorded her third save of the season, after recording two strikeouts for the final two outs.
Daino reached base safely in all four of her at bats, going 2-2 with two RBI and two walks. She now has 38 homers for her career and is just five shy of tying the Cameron career homerun record.
The two teams will meet for a third time tomorrow, with game time scheduled for noon. The game was originally scheduled for 2 p.m., but due to the chance of rain, the time was bumped up.Â
