CHICKASHA, Okla. – The Aggie softball team split their doubleheader with the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma on Wednesday, winning game one 4-3 and falling in game two 2-0. CU is now 22-7 on the season, while USAO moves to 19-10.
Cameron opened up game one with a run in the top of the first, as
Paige Daino drove in
Brenna Busby on a RBI double, giving them an early 1-0 lead.
After USAO scored two runs in the second and one in the third to take a 3-1 lead, the Aggies responded with one run in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings. In the fourth,
Breezy McComas scored as
Callie Busby reached on an error, and then in the fifth, B. Busby hit her team leading seventh homer of the season to tie the game at three runs apiece.
In the sixth, CU scored the go ahead run as
Abbey Warren drove in Daino on a sacrifice fly as they took game one 4-3.
Bethany Hines picked up win number 16 as she went all seven innings, giving up three runs, on three hits, and striking out five. She is leading the nation in number of victories.
Daino was 3-3 in game one with a run scored and a RBI.
The Aggie offense went silent in game two, they managed just three hits. The only offense came from USAO as they got a run in the second on a homer and then another run in the third as Cache, Okla. native Tate Landmark, who pitched in game one, drove in a run on a RBI single, as the Drovers won 2-0.
Alyssa Osterdock got the loss, as she went six innings, giving up two runs on six hits.
Cameron will get back to Lone Star Conference play this weekend as they visit Midwestern State for a three game series, with game one being played on Friday, March 17 at 6 p.m. and game two and three coming on Saturday starting at 1 p.m.
