No. 21 CU Men’s tennis face No. 3 Columbus State in NCAA Sweet-16

LAWTON, Okla. – The No. 21 Cameron men's tennis team will be making their fifth straight appearance in the NCAA National Championship on Tuesday as they will face No. 3 Columbus State at noon in Altamonte Springs, Fla.

Live Scoring

The Aggies recently claimed their fifth straight South Central Regional title in a row by defeating rival Midwestern State for the third time this year to advance to the Sweet-16. This will be the Aggies' 22nd NCAA postseason trip, and they are 13-21 in postseason play.

Last season, Cameron was swept by St. Leo in the round of 16, and in 2015, the Aggies made their first trip to the Elite-8 with a 5-0 win over Mercyhurst.

The Aggies are 17-10 overall this season and will face the 23-3 Columbus State Cougars (Ga.) for the first time in program history.

The Cougars survived two rounds of regional play, beating Barton 5-1 and Flagler 5-4 to advance to the Sweet-16. This year will be their first national appearance since 2014, and they reached the national semifinals in 2010 and 2011.

The Cougars are 12-2 against nationally ranked teams this season and have one singles player, No. 32 Kiranpal Panuu, and one doubles pairing, No. 22 Kiranpal Pannu / Maceij Kierkus, who are nationally ranked as well.

Cameron boasts No. 29 Vinicius Santos in the top singles spot and No. 11 Felipe Oyarzun / Mateo Velasco in the top doubles spot.

Should Cameron defeat Columbus State, they will face the winner of Bluefield State/Azusa Pacific on May 10 at 4 p.m. in the Elite-8.
