ROME, Ga. -- A pair of Aggie women's tennis student-athletes finished up their fall season as
Zhenia Shviadok and
Sarah Frendo competed at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Cup this past weekend.

A few weeks prior to their trip to Rome, Shviadok and Frendo made CU history, as Shviadok came away with the ITA Regional Singles Championship while the pair won the doubles title. Those wins booked their tickets to the ITA Cup to compete for the national championships.
Shviadok lost her first match in the quarterfinals of the singles main draw, falling to UCO's Isabella Dunlap 7-5, 6-3. The senior then made her way through the consolation draw, winning matches against opponent's from University of Charleston and Academy of Art to win the consolation bracket and finish fifth in the tournament as a whole.
As a doubles team, Shviadok and Frendo were also eliminated in the first round, falling 6-3, 6-1 to Nikol Alexeeva and Anna Novikova of the University of Indianapolis. They then won 6-3, 1-6, 11-9, winning the tiebreak after being down 9-2, over New York Institute of Technology's Barbara Quagliardi and Diana Baumgartnere before falling in the consolation finals to Klara Thell-Lenntorp and Alma Thell-Lenntorp from Academy of Art 6-1, 6-2. Shviadok and Frendo finished in sixth as a pair in the Division II doubles draw.
Berna Bonardi of West Florida won the DII singles draw, beating UCO's Dunlap 6-4, 6-1 in the final, while the duo of Zuza Maciejewska and Verena Schmid from Barry won the doubles draw 6-1, 6-2 over Beatrix Lopez and Marleen Tilgner from Columbus State.
Shviadok, Frendo, and the rest of the Cameron women's tennis team will now head into the winter offseason and pick up with their official spring season in February.
