STEPHENVILLE, Texas – The Aggie baseball team concluded a four game series at Tarleton State on Sunday, falling 10-3 to lose the weekend series three games to one.
Sunday's game started out as a pitcher's duel, as neither team scored a run through the first three innings. Cameron was the first to strike in the top of the fourth, putting two runs on the board.
Trey Bigford reached on an error to leadoff the inning and then came around to score later after stealing second and two more errors by the Texans.
Briton Schiewe, who reached on an error himself, came into score a batter later when
Kameron Good singles and the TSU left fielder misplayed the ball.
Tarleton State responded in the fifth inning by scoring three runs, and then added to their lead in the sixth with two more runs, giving them a 5-2 advantage.
In the next half inning,
Luke Hughes drove in
Colton Adams on a fielder's choice play to chip into the TSU lead, but that would be the last time an Aggie crossed the plate in the game. The Texans added three more runs in the seventh inning and another two in the eighth to give them their 10-3 lead.
The Black and Gold managed just six hits in the contest, with
Cole Williams and
Michael Flohr each tallying two hits; Williams' were a pair of doubles.
Skyler Henderson pitched the first five innings for CU and was the pitcher of record with his second loss on the season. He gave up three earned runs on five hits with four strikeouts and six walks.
Cameron is now 8-10 on the season, while Tarleton State is 12-9.
Lone Star Conference play begins next weekend, as the Aggies return home to host No. 19 Texas A&M-Kingsville for a four game series, March 16-18.
