LAWTON, Okla. – The Cameron men's tennis team is now 3-2 on the season after falling to UT Arlington 4-0 on Thursday before beating Seward County in their home opener 4-3.

The Aggies fell behind early against the Mavericks of UTA, losing the No. 1 doubles match 6-1 and the No. 2 match 6-3 to lose the doubles point. After CU lost at the No. 2 and 3 singles matches, Vinicius Santos almost pulled out a win at the No. 1 singles spot, bouncing back from a 6-3 loss in set to win 6-0 in the second. He then fell 6-4 in the final set for UTA's match winning point.

Against the Seward, who is the No. 3 ranked JUCO team in the nation, CU fell behind 1-0 again losing 7-6 at No. 2 doubles and 7-5 at No. 3. Julen Gutierrez and Santos won their doubles match 6-2, but it did not count towards the team's points.

Cameron's four wins came at the second, third, fifth, and sixth singles matches. Oscar del Granado beat his opponent 6-2, 7-5 at No. 2 and Mritunjay Badola won 6-4, 7-5 at No. 2. Gutierrez stayed perfect in the match with a 6-4, 6-4 at No. 5, while Pierre Marion won 6-1, 6-4 at No. 6 to secure the Aggie victory.

The Aggies' next match will be on Tuesday, Feb. 19 when they host the No. 7 ranked team in the NJCAA, Cowley College, at 2 p.m.
