LAWTON, Okla. – The Aggies win game two and the series with UT Tyler behind a walk-off hit by pitch in the tenth inning and a strong performance by the CU pitching staff.
Â
Saturday's game was as even as you could get, and it took ten innings to decide the outcome. Both teams enjoyed nine hits offensively, with two errors and one run separating the ball clubs.
          Â
The scoring started in the fourth inning when the UT Tyler Patriots saw Brady Usherwood crush a home run to deep left field.
          Â
The Aggies waited until the seventh to answer when leading run producer
Izrael Trevino doubled home
Myles Miller to tie the game at one.
          Â
That score held up until the top of the ninth when Alex Smith doubled in Tanner Roach to push the Patriots ahead by a run.
          Â
The Black and Gold did not go quietly as pinch hitter
Pierce Khan came in cold off the bench to score
Briton Schiewe on a single to short right field to force extra innings.
Â
After
Chris Hansen got out of a bases-loaded jam in the top of the bonus inning, the Aggies got themselves into a bases loaded situation offensively in the bottom half. That is when Miller was hit by a pitch to bring around
Tyler Wood and end the game.
Â
Wood was the leading hit getter, with two hits at the dish for CU. The junior from Canada also earned a pair of walks offensively allowing him to reach base safely four of the five times he stepped to the plate.
Â
Submarine pitcher
Sean Maher went 3.2 innings for the Black and Gold and enjoyed a team leading five strikeouts, while
Drew Henderson and Hansen had three strikeouts each across 4.1 and 2.0 innings respectively. CU's 11 combined punchouts is the second most this season by the squad. Â
Â
Up next, these two teams will complete the series tomorrow afternoon at McCord field with first pitch slated for 1 p.m. No matter the outcome of tomorrow's contest, the Aggies will add another series win to their season resume.
