Cameron closes out UT Tyler series with 4-0 loss

LAWTON, Okla. – Cameron baseball falls in game three of their series against UT Tyler 4-0 on Sunday afternoon, but wins their second series of the season thanks to wins in game one and two on Friday and Saturday.

The CU offense could only muster up a pair of hits in Sunday's series finale that saw ten Aggie baserunners.

On the mound, the Black and Gold turned to Andrew Garza who tossed six innings giving up five hits, and three runs. Garza did punch out a team high seven batters.

Hayden Jaco, the usual Aggie backstop, got a chance to take the bump in this afternoon's game as he hurled 2.2 innings and gave up a pair of hits and a run.

Jaco was not the only position player to see time on the mound, Dillon Turney, who had spent all series as the Black and Gold's designated hitter to this point, recorded an out in the game and allowed two hits.

At the dish, Turney collected the first Aggie hit in the bottom half of the sixth inning, the additional Aggie hit came when Colton Adams beat out an infield single in the eighth. Despite the lack of hits, CU did manage to draw eight walks as a team, but also struck out 13 times.

Austin Schneider, Matthew McMillan, and Zachary Fernandez combined for the two hit shutout, with Schneider throwing 4.1 no-hit innings with six K's and four walks.

Cameron, who is now 5-5 on the season, will be back in action next week as they play both William Jewell and Oklahoma Christian, first on the campus of OC on Friday, Feb. 22, and then at McCord Field on Saturday, Feb. 23.
