SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – To open up their spring season, the Aggie men's tennis team went 1-1, losing 4-3 to Drury and beating Washburn 4-3.
On Friday against Drury,
Przemyslaw Zielinski won 6-4, 7-6 at No. 5 and
Pierre Marion won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 6.
Mritunjay Badola battled his opponent at No. 3 to three sets but fell 4-6, 6-3, 7-6. The other three matches were two set winners for the Panthers.
Cameron's third point came from doubles play, as Zielinski and Badola won 7-6 at No. 2 and
Oscar del Granado and Marion won 9-7 at No. 3.
The Aggies bounced back with a win against Washburn on Saturday. In singles play, Badola and Marion both won their matches in three sets and
Julen Gutierrez came away with a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 3.
Like the previous match, the Black and Gold earned the doubles point, as Zielinski and Badola won 6-4 and del Granado and Marion won 7-6.
Cameron, who is now 1-1, will face a pair of junior college teams this week in Collin County CC and Tyler JC on Feb. 8 and Feb. 9 in Plano, Texas.
