LUBBOCK, Texas – The Cameron baseball team rallied to score three runs in the eighth and ninth innings to force extras, then exploded for six in the 10th for a 9-4 win over Lubbock Christian.
          Â
The Aggies turned to
Devin Castro on the hill for game one of a four game set with Lubbock Christian. The southpaw ran into some trouble early in the first inning, allowing two runs by way of an RBI single to center field off the bat of Andrew Pratt and a sacrifice fly delivered by Hill Alexander.
          Â
Castro was lifted after tossing 5.2 innings and allowing five hits, two runs while tallying three strikeouts.
Andrew Garza replaced Castro during the sixth inning.
          Â
The two ball clubs matched zeros after the first inning. The Aggies threated in the seventh inning, loading the bases and two outs, but came away empty handed again.
          Â
Sean Maher came in with runners on the corners and one out in the bottom half of the seventh inning. Maher is no stranger to high advantage situations, being put in a few just last weekend. The Lone Star Conference Pitcher of the Week allowed a run by way of a balk in the inning. Maher got out of the frame with just one run of damage with a strikeout to end the seventh.
          Â
The Chaps, holding a three run lead entering the eight, again ran into some trouble. The Aggie offense was able to load the bases with one out in the inning down three runs. After a strikeout, to push the out count to two outs,
Trey Bigford stepped into the batter's box. Bigford earned a bases loaded walk to score the Aggies first run of the night and make it a two run game.
Dillon Turney kept the line moving with an RBI single that plated
Izrael Trevino to make it a one run contest entering the ninth inning.
          Â
Maher faced the minimum in the ninth and gave the Aggies a chance down just one run to start the final frame.
Jordan Harrison-Dudley doubled with one out in the ninth to give the Aggies a scoring threat. On a 1-2 count with two outs, Trevino came up with a huge RBI single to tie the game at three.
          Â
In the ninth, the Aggies called on
Chris Hansen who struck out the first two batters he saw. Hansen worked a clean frame to push the game to extras, the second CU baseball contest to go to extras on the young season.
          Â
CU got two runners on in the tenth on an infield single from
Briton Schiewe and a throwing error on an attempted sacrifice bunt from Bigford. Turney laid down a sacrifice bunt to move both runners into scoring position with only one away. After an intentional Walk to load the bases,
Myles Miller stepped to the dish. Miller slapped a two RBI base knock into left field to give the Aggies their first lead of the ball game. The bases were again juiced for Trevino with two outs in the tenth and a two run lead. Trevino slapped a two run RBI single after Miller scored on a wild pitch.
Pierce Khan plated Trevino to cap off a six run scoring outburst in the tenth.
          Â
Brody Curry emerged from the Aggie bullpen in the bottom half of the tenth. The Chaps got an unearned run off a pair of Black and Gold errors. Curry escape with ease in the tenth to slam the door on the Chaps.
          Â
Hansen earned his first win of the season and CU improved to 3-1.
          Â
In game one of a four game series, the Chaps used seven different arms to total the ten innings needed in this one, which could prove to be big later in the series.
          Â
Up next for the Aggies, they have a double-header with the Chaps on Sunday starting at 2 p.m. in Lubbock.
