RICHARDSON, Texas – Cameron women's tennis student-athlete
Sarah Frendo claimed her second straight Lone Star Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week award on Wednesday.
Frendo was a perfect 2-0 in both singles and doubles last week as the Cameron women went 1-1 with a 4-3 loss to No. 32 Northwest Missouri State and a 4-3 win over No. 13 Tarleton State. Playing at No. 1 singles, the senior from France won 6-3, 6-1 against her opponents from NWMSU and then on Tuesday she defeated TSU's Alicia Barbaroux 7-6, 6-3. She also went 2-0 with her doubles partner
Sara Petric as CU's No. 2 paring, winning 6-3 against the Bearcats and 6-4 against the TexAnns.
Ranked No. 21 in singles in the latest Oracle/ITA rankings, Frendo is now 8-4 in singles while playing at CU's No. 1 spot and has won three straight matches. She is also 7-5 in doubles play, going 4-3 at No. 1 and 3-2 at No. 2.
This is the second straight weekly honor for Frendo and the fourth by an Aggie tennis student-athlete this spring.
The Aggies will rely on their senior again this weekend as they host No. 18 Angelo State on Friday, March 29, at 2 p.m. and then No. 25 St. Edwards on Saturday, March 30, at 11 a.m.
