LAWTON, Okla. – Behind a shutout from freshman
Drew Henderson and an offensive outburst from
Hayden Jaco and
Jordan Harrison-Dudley, the Aggie baseball team opened their series with Eastern New Mexico with a 10-0 run-rule win.
Cameron's offensive came alive from the start, scoring five runs in the opening frame.
Izrael Trevino reached on an error, allowing Jaylayn Prince to score and then Jaco doubled down the right field line to bring home
Myles Miller and Trevino. A pair of RBI singles from Harrison-Dudley and
Nate Pecota gave CU the 5-0 lead.
In the third, CU added two more when Jaco drove in both Trevino and
Dillon Turney on a single to the shortstop. A Harrison-Dudley two-run homer in the fifth, extended the Aggies lead to 9-0.
The Aggies put a cap on things with a RBI single from Turney in the sixth, leaving it up to Henderson to finish off the shutout in the top of the seventh.
Cameron's freshman starter did just that, going all seven innings while giving up just four hits and walking one while striking out four batters for his second win of the season.
Jaco led the Black and Gold with a 3-3 day, driving in four runs and scoring two more. Harrison-Dudley went 2-3 with two runs score and three RBI, while
Pierce Khan chipped in a pair of hits as well.
Cameron is now 16-22 on the year and 7-6 in Lone Star Conference play, while ENMU falls to 13-24 overall and 1-12 against the league.
The two teams will be back in action on Friday for a doubleheader scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
