Aggies sweep matches at OBU

SHAWNEE, Okla. – The Cameron tennis teams came away with a pair of wins on Tuesday as they visited Oklahoma Baptist for a mid-week, non-conference matchup.
 
The Cameron men opened their 5-2 win with a 2-1 record in doubles play. Mritunjay Badola and Przemyslaw Zielinski upset the No. 9 ranked pairing of Kevin Andrusch and Gianlucca Galdi 6-3 at No. 1. A 6-1 win at No. 3 by Julen Gutierrez and Jesus Villamizar secured the 1-0 lead for the Aggies.
 
Badola opened up singles play by winning at No. 1 as the No. 46 ranked Andrusch retired in the second set. Oscar del Granado extended the CU lead to 3-0 with a 6-0, 6-2 win at the three spot. Pierre Marion secured CU's 12th straight win with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5 and Villamizar recorded CU's fifth point with a 6-0, 6-1 win in the sixth spot.
 
The Aggie women snapped a two match losing skid with a tight 4-3 win against the Bison. Like the men, CU took an early 1-0 lead with a pair of 6-4 wins in doubles by Alisa Savina and Rebeka Velasova and Sarah Frendo and Sara Petric.
 
Velasova opened singles play with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 2, which was followed by a 6-1, 2-6, 6-4 win at No. 3 by Petric, giving the Aggies a 3-0 lead. The one spot featured a matchup between the No. 21 ranked Frendo and No. 20 Kim Moosbacher. CU's top player won 6-2 in the opening set before falling 6-4 in the second. She then secured the win with a 6-1 victory in the third to give CU their fourth and winning point.
 
The Aggies will be back at home this weekend, as both teams host Dallas Baptist on Saturday, April 6, beginning at 11 a.m.
