SAN ANGELO, Texas – Despite entering the series opener tied for first in the Lone Star Conference, the Aggie baseball team fell 18-1 to the No. 11 ranked Angelo State Rams on Friday night.
          Â
The Rams were able to jump out to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning.
          Â
Cameron quickly answered in the second inning when an
Izrael Trevino drew a walk and then was bunted over to second base by
Myles Miller.
Hayden Jaco singled through the left side of the infield to plate Trevino and give the Aggies their lone run of the ball game.
Â
Angelo State then scored 17 straight runs, with a six-run fourth inning, to secure the run-rule victory in game one of the series.
          Â
After recovering from an early season arm injury to hit a walk off single on Monday,
Nate Pecota pinch hit for Miller in the seventh inning following a lightning delay, and earned his third hit of the year through the left side of the infield.
          Â
Dillon Turney pitched an inning in relief and did not see a run come across while pitching a 1-2-3 inning, seeing two groundouts and a fly out in the sixth. At the dish, Turney earned himself a walk, which was one of three by CU in the game.
          Â
Jaylan Prince was able to reach base safely twice when he slapped a leadoff single in the first inning and later worked a walk.
          Â
Cameron, who is now 15-19 overall and 6-3 in league play, will look to bounce back on Saturday as the two teams play a seven-inning doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m.
