WACO, TEXAS – Due to continued inclement weather and the probability of continued rain throughout the weekend, the 2021 Lone Star Conference Men's and Women's Tennis Championships have been canceled.
The Aggie women, who earned the six seed in the tournament, were set to play St. Mary's in the first round match, while the men had earned a first round bye as the top seed. Neither team were able to play a set in Waco.
Per LSC policy, the winner of the regular season round-robin will be awarded the league's automatic bid to the 2021 NCAA Division II Championship. Angelo State will receive the bid for the women's championship. On the men's side, due to UT Tyler's status as an NCAA provisional member, they are not eligible for the NCAA postseason. As the LSC's regular season runner-up based on tiebreakers, Cameron will be granted the automatic bid for men's tennis.
The NCAA selection shows for men's and women's tennis will air Tuesday, May 4 with the men's show at 7 p.m. CT followed by the women's show at 7:30 p.m. CT.
As the automatic qualifier, the Cameron men await to see who and when they will play at the Division II South Central Regional Championship in Arlington, Texas.
Cameron's women are not currently ranked in the regional rankings, and not being able to play this weekend sealed their fate of not making the NCAA postseason.
