Aggies Sit Third After Day One

AMARILLO, Texas – The Cameron men's golf team shot a 273 (-7) second round, improving by 14 strokes from the first round of the Ryan Palmer Foundation Invitational at the Amarillo Country Club on Monday.
 
CU shot a 287-273—560 (E) to hold third place, 10 strokes off Oklahoma Christian's lead. The Black-and-Gold finished the first round +7, tied for seventh place. Cameron rebounded in the second round scoring a -7, to end the day at par. 
 
Preston Holmes is in sixth place after turning in a two-round card of 72-66—138. Hamish Murray is joining Holmes in the top 15, who sits tied for 13th place with a day one total of 68-72—140.
 
Trevor Mierl is currently tied for 26th place with a score of 74-68—142.
 
Hunter Drotts recorded a day one score of 78-67—145 to be tied for 42nd place.
 
Chris Somerfield is tied for 51st with a day one total of 73-73—146.
 
OC holds the top two individuals, with Exequiel Rodriguez in first with 67-67—134 and Oskari Nikku in second with a 70-65—135.
 
The Aggies will close out the tournament by teeing off with the final group starting at 10:00 am.
