Cameron Concludes Fall at Citrus Intercollegiate

LAWTON, Okla. – The Cameron men's golf team finishes their fall in ChampionsGate, Fla. At the Citrus Intercollegiate on Monday, Oct. 31 and Tuesday, Nov. 1, the 54-hole event will be played over two days, with rounds one and two on Monday at ChampionsGate Golf Club and the final round on Tuesday.
 
Cameron placed second the last time out in their home event; The Hrnciar, Trevor Mierl, tied for first place after shooting a 70-67-71—208 over two days at the Territory in Duncan, Okla. CU opened the season placing third at the Writz at Mile High in Lakewood, Colo., where they carded 1095. Trevor Mierl led the Aggies with a fourth-place finish. They would travel to Amarillo, Texas, where they scored 835 at the Ryan Palmer Foundation Invitational and placed seventh. The Black-and-Gold finished fifth at the Midwestern State Invite, scoring 859.
 
Cameron head coach Austin Phillips is going with a starting lineup of Mierl, Hamish Murray, Chris Somerfield, Preston Holmes, and Joey Kirk.
 
The Aggies will start the first round with a shotgun start at 8:30 am EST. Mierl with open on the fourth tee, Murray tees off from the fifth hole, Somerfield and Holmes are set to open from the sixth hole, with Somerfield in the A group, and Kirk begins from the seventh tee.
 
Joining 19th-ranked Cameron in the field of 14 teams, four teams ranked in the top 25 and three others receiving votes. Second-ranked West Florida, No. 3 Barry, No. 13 Nova Southeastern, No. 17 Tampa. The three schools receiving votes are Carson-Newman, Saint Leo, and Washburn. The remaining teams in the tournament are Florida Southern, Keiser, Lynn, Montevallo, Shorter, and Willmington (DE).
 
The ChampionsGate Golf Club plays as a par-72 course with a yardage of 6905. Competitors will begin the tournament with tee times beginning at 8:30 am on Monday, playing the first 18 holes, and then completing the second round in the afternoon. The event will conclude on Tuesday with the final 18. Live scoring will be available for all three rounds and can be found at the link above.
