Kaman and Holmes named Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars

NORMAN, Okla. – Cameron men's golf student-athletes Tyler Kaman and Preston Holmes were two of 174 NCAA Division II athletes to be named Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars on Thursday.

For Kaman, who graduated in May, this is his third GCAA honor while it is the first for the third-year player Holmes.

Kaman has been a mainstay in the Cameron men's golf lineup for the last three seasons. He was the LSC and Cameron Athletics Newcomer of the Year in 2020, a first team All-LSC performer this spring, and was recently named a LSC Scholar-Athlete, presented to two select members from each institution's graduating class.

A Fredericksburg, Texas native, Kaman has a stroke average of 73.45 (third best in program history) over 76 rounds with eight rounds in the 60s and 28 par or better rounds in three seasons at Cameron. He also tied the program low-round record of 65 at the Ryan Palmer Invitational in the fall, a tournament in which he won the individual title.

Holmes stepped up for Cameron during the 2021-22 season, as the League City, Texas native posted an 18-hole scoring average of 73.62 over 34 rounds of play. He also had eight top-25 finishes, including two inside the top-8 individuals.

One of those tournaments was the LSC Championship. Holmes notched program records with a low-round of 65 and a tournament score of 203 at the conference tournament to finish in fourth place and make the All-Tournament Team.

To be eligible for Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar nomination, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically in NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA, or receiving their Associate's Degree and in their last year of athletic eligibility in the NJCAA. In addition, they must participate in 50 percent of their team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0 in NCAA Division I, under 78.0 in NCAA Division II, under 79.0 in NCAA Division III, under 78.0 in NAIA, and under 77.0 in NJCAA, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
