LAWTON, Okla.– Vasilisa Polunova in singles and Kateryna Rudenko/Karolina Glowinska in doubles would highlight Cameron women's tennis at the CU Invite hosted at the Streich-Henry Tennis Complex over the weekend.
Rudenko/Glowinska teamed up in Flight B doubles and defeated Cowley County's duo to open with a 6-3 win, they would defeat the pair from Midwestern State 6-2, and they would win Flight B doubles over Central Oklahoma's duo 7-5.
Polunova would put together a run in the A Flight, opening play with a 4-6, 6-4, 10-5 win over Khrustaleva from Lubbock Christian and advanced to the finals with a 6-2, 7-6(9) win over Hernandez from CC. She would go on to defeat Babenko from CC 2-6, 6-2, 10-7 to win the Flight.
Anastasia Uspenskaia would make a run in the B Flight, winning the opening round over Buntrock from UCO 6-7(4), 6-3, 10-3; she would move on to the finals with a 6-2, 6-0 win over CC's Zungu. Uspenskaia would fall to Zafeiri of UCO 6-4, 3-6, 9-11.
In D Flight, Lea Manga topped MSU's Dowling 6-4, 6-2 to start play; in the semis, Manga would be defeated by Boyer of UCO 6-4, 4-6, 7-10, but rebounded to top Neyra from CC 6-1, 6-2.
Anshu Okamura opened play in the F Flight with a 6-2, 7-6(7) win, and she would then fall to Furutani from MSU 2-6, 0-6, before closing out with a win over Shinneman from LCU 6-4, 7-6.
In the doubles A Flight, Polunova/Jenna Goessel would defeat the duo from UCO 6-2, they would drop their second match to CC's duo 4-6, and close out with a win over the team from MSU 6-1.
Nina Pigeassou/Lia Woods would team up in the C Flight; they would drop their first match to UCO's duo 3-6 and respond to defeats back-to-back duos from LCU 6-4 and 6-2.
