Aggies Fall Twice Saturday

LAWTON, Okla. – Cameron would fall in both games on Saturday, needing a win Sunday to avoid being swept by the red-hot Angelo State Rams.

The Aggies came into Saturday's game looking to cool off the unbeaten seventh-ranked Rams. The ASU offense would not be denied posting 10 runs on 10 hits in the first game.

Lance Barnett would break up the shutout in the fifth innings with a two-run single to center to score Kody Bigford and Trent Mallonee, as CU would drop the opener 10-2.

Mallonee would go 2-for-2 with two walks and a run. Barnett, Will Bradley and Kai Hershberger would collect the other three hits for the Black-and-Gold.

Drew Henderson would get the loss by throwing three innings, allowing eight runs, seven earned on seven hits. Josh Hernandez would face two batters and allow two runs. Jacob Acheson went 2.0 innings, allowing two hits while striking out two. Jake Meents pitched an inning and allowed a hit. Grayden Stauffer pitched the final inning with two strikeouts.

Beau Williams would break up the Angelo State no-hitter in game two with a double in the seventh. Cameron would drop the game 12-0.

The Rams continued their strong offensive outburst with 12 runs on 14 hits.

Nate Creason started going two innings, allowing four runs on two hits and striking out two. Garrett Klein would throw 4.2 innings, surrendering eight runs on 11 hits with three strikeouts. Carter Bourg threw 0.1 innings, giving up a hit.

On Sunday, the Aggies will look to avoid getting swept by the ASU and pick up win number two on the young season. The first pitch is set for 1:00 pm at McCord Field in Lawton, Oklahoma.
