Cameron Upended by Southwestern

LAWTON, Okla. – Cameron falls in their non-conference game against Southwestern Oklahoma State on Tuesday as the pitching staff could not cool off the Bulldog bats.

The Aggies and Bulldogs got together for their second game this season, both non-conference mid-week games. Tuesday's affair closed the loop on a home-and-home set that started on March 14th in Weatherford, Okla., where CU fell 17-3.

The Black-and-Gold tried to rebound and snap a three-game skid on Tuesday. Cameron's offense jump-started the game with a run in the first frame when Trent Mallonee and Beau Williams traded places on a Williams double. After taking that 1-0 advantage, Southwestern marched on for 21 runs across the next two innings, which featured a 17-run third inning by the Bulldogs.

The Aggies responded well, with back-to-back home runs by Beau Williams and Jayce Clem to give CU four runs on the afternoon.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Mallonee again came through for Cameron, slapping an RBI double into the left-center field gap to plate Bigford. That was one of three runs scored in the frame as Williams scored Mallonee with a roped single before Drew Durst plated Williams with a base knock.

The Aggies fell in this one, 26-7. Next, Cameron will host UTPB at McCord Field on March 31st, with the first pitch slated for 1:00 pm.
