ARLINGTON, Texas – No. 2-seed Cameron takes the crown of the Lone Star Conference Championship on Saturday afternoon with a 4-3 win over top-seeded UT Tyler at the Arlington Tennis Complex.
Kristian Kubik and Emilio Seelbach won the doubles match at No. 3 6-1, and Tomas Almeida and Thomas Cardona secured the first point of the match with a 6-3 victory at No. 1. The incomplete match had Joao Duleba and Baptiste Mercier tied 4-4 at No. 2.
The Patriots would tie the match at 1-1 with a 6-7 (5-7), 3-6 win over Mercier at No. 3.
Cardona retook the lead for CU as he won 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2 over Gonzalo Fernandez, the seventh-ranked individual.
Alexandre Post fell 7-5, 2-6, 2-6 in the dual at six.
Almeida made it a 3-2 match in favor of the Black-and-Gold with a 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 win against the ninth-best single in the country.
UT Tyler knotted the match at 3-3 as Duleba fell 6-1, 3-6, 5-7 at No. 5.
The LSC Tournament MVP Kubik sealed the championship with a 5-7, 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 4.
Almeida, Cardona, and Mercier join Kubik receiving All-Tournament Team honors.
