The Aggies Fall in Game One

Tyler, Texas – The Cameron baseball team dropped game one to UT-Tyler after a myriad of weather delays impacted the series.

The Aggies and Patriots got their series underway on Saturday evening after rain in Tyler forced multiple delays to the four-game set. Those delays did not hinder the UT-Tyler offense, as their bats secured eight runs after the fourth inning before tacking on two more in the fifth and one in the sixth inning. The Patriots' offense posting ten runs was enough to down the Aggies, who could not come away with a win despite a five-run eighth inning.

Kai Hershberger hit a home run in the fifth inning, a solo shot to right field for his only hit of the day.

The CU offense turned in a five-run outburst in the eighth started by a Zac DeLong single to right to plate Kody Bigford, Beau Williams slapped a bases-clearing double into right to score Holden Tate and Trent Mallonee, and the scoring stopped after Drew Durst whacked a two-run home run to right-center field, scoring Williams.

Mallonee and Williams were the only Aggies to secure multiple hits in the contest.

Up next, the two teams will play a doubleheader on Sunday, starting at 3:00 pm before wrapping up game four set on Monday at 1:00 pm.
