LAWTON, Okla. – Cameron volleyball head coach Nathan Martell has his first campaign at the helm set as he announces the 2023 fall volleyball schedule, which includes three preseason classics and nine home matches.
The 2023 slate for the Aggies will open with scrimmages before the season and the Annual Black-and-Gold Scrimmage. CU opens the year with three tournaments before conference play begins on Sept. 22.
Cameron travels to Joplin, Mo., to participate in the Missouri Southern Tournament on Sept. 1-2. The Aggies will face Northwestern Oklahoma State and Southwest Baptist on Friday, then Southern Arkansas and Missouri Southern on Saturday. CU visits Hays, Kan., on Sept. 8-9 for the 2023 Tiger Classic to face Minnesota State-Mankato, New Mexico Highlands, Southern Nazarene, and Fort Hays State.
The Lone Star Conference schedule features eight home matches and eight away matches, plus a preseason festival hosted at four different sites where teams face four opponents in non-conference matches. The Black-and-Gold travels to Portales, NM, to battle Eastern New Mexico on Sept. 14 and Midwestern State on Sept. 14, St. Edward's on Sept. 15, and Western New Mexico on Sept. 16.
Conference play for Cameron begins on Sept. 22 on the road when they visit UT Tyler before visiting Dallas Baptist on Sept. 23. The Aggies will open their home slate on Sept. 29 and Sept. 30 against St. Mary's and St. Edward's to close out the month.
October opens with the first non-conference opponent on Oct. 3 as CU visits Northwestern Oklahoma State before facing UT Permian Basin on Oct. 6 in Odessa, Texas and Angelo State on Oct. 7 in San Angelo, Texas. The Black-and-Gold return home to host non-conference foe Southwestern Oklahoma State on Oct. 10, Texas Woman's Oct. 13, and Midwestern State on Oct. 14. Cameron's visits their final non-conference foe on Oct. 17 in Southern Nazarene.
They close out the month at home on Oct. 20-21 against Oklahoma Christian and Arkansas-Fort Smith before ending at Eastern New Mexico on Oct. 27 and Western New Mexico on Oct. 28.
The Aggies will play four games in November, two at home and two on the road, as they host West Texas A&M on Nov. 1 and will have their senior day on Nov. 2 against Western New Mexico. The season will conclude on the road against Texas A&M International on Nov. 10 and Texas A&M-Kingsville on Nov. 11.
At the conclusion of the regular season, the top-8 teams based on conference standings will compete at the LSC Championship, hosted by the top seed, Nov. 16-18.
