Lawton, OK - The Aggies Women's Tennis team is gearing up for an exciting weekend as they prepare to kick off their second regular season with a 3-day Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Regional Tournament in Arlington, Texas. This event, taking place from Thursday, September 17th to Saturday, September 21st at the Arlington Tennis Center, promises to be a thrilling showcase of talent and determination. Coming off a strong performance at the Billingsley Family of Dealerships Invitational two weekends ago, the Aggies are ready to make their mark in this regional competition. The team's recent success has set the stage for what could be a pivotal moment in their season.
Leading the charge for Cameron are standout players
Jenna Goessel,
Kateryna Rudenko,
Anastasia Uspenskaia.
Goessel has been competing at a high level, showcasing her skills with impressive victories in singles matches. At the invitational, she claimed first place after defeating opponents from Midwestern State University (6-1, 6-0 and 4-6, 6-2, 10-7) and Cowley Community College (6-2, 6-1). Rudenko secured a second-place finish in singles play, battling through tough matches against Seward County Community College and Midwestern State University. Her notable victory (6-2, 6-7(9), 10-6) demonstrated her resilience and skill on the court. In last year's ITA Regional, Rudenko was a semi-finalist and will look to make another long run in the tournament. Uspenskaia was a runner-up in her flight to start the fall season this year. Last season, after returning from injury went an impressive 13-1 in singles play.
As the Aggies head to Arlington, they'll be looking to build on this momentum and make their presence felt in the regional tournament. The ITA Regional offers an excellent opportunity for these athletes to test their mettle against top-tier competition from across the region. Coach
Josh Cobble says "We are bringing a lot of experience into the regional this year. If we play up to our potential then we have several players that can make a deep run into the event in both singles and doubles play." The Aggies play Thursday, September 19 - Saturday, September 22 at the Arlington Tennis Courts.
