Cameron Aggies Fall Short in Season Opener Against UCCS Mountain Lions

Aggies Struggle to Find Rhythm in Straight-Set Loss

Colorado Springs Colo- The Cameron Aggies volleyball team faced a tough challenge in their season opener, falling to the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) Mountain Lions in three straight sets (16-25, 13-25, 14-25) at the Gallogly Events Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The non-conference loss puts the Aggies at a 0-1 record to start the season.

Offensive Struggles

Despite their best efforts, the Aggies found it difficult to establish a consistent offensive rhythm against the Mountain Lions' defense. Kayla Eggimen led the Cameron attack with a team-high 6 kills, but the team as a whole struggled to find gaps in the UCCS defense.

Emily Keohen provided valuable support to the Aggies' attackers, dishing out a team-high 12 assists. However, the team's overall offensive output wasn't enough to keep pace with the Mountain Lions.

Defensive Bright Spots
On the defensive front, Shelby Rusch stood out for the Aggies with a team-leading 9 digs, showcasing her ability to read the UCCS attacks and keep rallies alive. Haley Beggs contributed to the team's defensive efforts at the net, recording two blocks during the match.

Key Statistics:

The Cameron Aggies volleyball team will aim to secure their first win of the season as they face Arkansas Fort Smith in their second match of the day.
