FORT WORTH, Texas – The Cameron University women's cross country team delivered a strong performance on Saturday morning at the DBU Old Glory Gallop, finishing 13th in a stacked field of 40 teams.
The Aggies finished with 402 points, beating out seven LSC foes as well as Division I competition in East Texas A&M and Prairie View A&M.
Leading the way for the squad was Akaya Lightbourne, who placed 20th overall with a time of 18:15.25. Close behind was Marie Sommer, finishing 35th in 18:32.41.
Rounding out the top five for Cameron, Kaat de Staercke broke the 19-minute barrier to place 58th with a time of 18:52.35, followed by Gracie Ortiz in 145th (20:14.82) and Terrionna Taylor in 204th (21:09.32).
The Aggies will return to action on October 25th, competing once again in Fort Worth at the Lone Star Conference Cross Country Championships.
