Volleyball Returns Home to Face UT Permian Basin and No. 22 Angelo State

LAWTON, Okla. - After nine straight matches on the road, the Cameron University volleyball team returns to Aggie Gym as they continue their Lone Star Conference slate against UT Permian Basin and No. 22 Angelo State.

The Aggies (4-10, 0-2 LSC) come back to Lawton with a 1-3 record against LSC opponents this season, including nonconference matchups during the LSC Challenge. 

CU opens the weekend on Friday night against UTPB at 6 PM before taking on ASU on Saturday at 2 PM. Both matches will be available for live streaming on FloCollege.

UTPB holds a slight advantage over the Aggies in the series at 10-7, taking the last meeting between the two schools 3-0 on Nov. 16, 2024.

Cameron and ASU have a storied series with more than 50 matches played between the teams. The Rambelles have a 39-12 lead in the series, winning 0-3 last time out on Nov. 8, 2024.

SCOUTING THE FALCONS

UTPB comes into the weekend with a 3-9 record, splitting their opening weekend of LSC play 1-1 with a win against St. Edward's and a loss to St. Mary's. 

Makenna Grimes and Nickilah Whatley share the offensive load for the Falcons, with 109 and 107 kills, respectively. Lauren Demuth trails closely behind at 99 kills. Kierra Freeman powers the UTPB attack by a large margin, tallying 316 assists - more than half of the Falcons' total.

Defensively, Isabel Rodriguez guards the backline with 156 digs while Demuth defends the net with a team-leading 28.0 blocks, ten more than the next best Falcon.

SCOUTING THE RAMBELLES

ASU comes into the weekend ranked No. 22 in the most recent AVCA Coaches Poll. The Rambelles are 8-5 on the season and 2-0 in LSC play following 3-0 and 3-1 wins over St. Mary's and St. Edward's. This will be the Aggies' first ranked matchup of the season.

Offensively, Madi Parrish leads the Rambelles on the attack with 156 kills on a .231 attacking percentage. Madison Scrivner totals the mosts assists for ASU with 259.

Ireland Ferguson has racked up the most digs for the Rambelles defensive with 192 while Cate Boldrick and Sydney Thornton lead in blocks at 32.0 and 29.0, respectively.
