Volleyball Prepares for 1,500 Mile Road Stint Against Western New Mexico and Sul Ross State

LAWTON, Okla. - The Cameron University volleyball is ready to rack up the miles as they prepare to travel a total of 1,500 miles for a weekend road stint against Western New Mexico and Sul Ross State.

The Aggies (6-15, 2-6 LSC) are coming off of a 2-1 week and 2-0 weekend, picking up LSC wins against Texas A&M International and Texas A&M-Kingsville.

First up, the Aggies will take on WNMU on Oct. 23 at 7 PM CT before taking a day for travel to face off against Sul Ross on Oct. 25 at 12 PM. Both matches will be available for streaming on FloCollege.

WNMU leads the series against the Aggies at 6-12, but the Aggies have won three of the last five meetings, including a 3-2 win last time out on Nov. 15, 2024. The Aggies and Sul Ross have met just once before, with Sul Ross picking up a 0-3 win on Oct. 11, 2024.

SCOUTING THE MUSTANGS

WNMU comes into the weekend at 9-10 and 4-5 in LSC play, splitting their last weekend 1-1 with a 0-3 loss to West Texas A&M and a 3-1 win over Eastern New Mexico. The Mustangs similarly defeated TAMIU, 3-1, and TAMUK, 3-2, earlier this season.

Daphne Posthumus leads the Mustangs offensively with 180 kills and a .340 hitting percentage. Brynlee Barris and Kaitlyn Salgado trail close behind at 156 and 155 kills, respectively. Hannah Haggard tallies the mosts assists for WNMU with 393.

Defensively, Mikelle McAfee holds the backline with 280 digs while Barris leads in total blocks with 85.0, including 41 solo blocks.

SCOUTING THE LOBOS

Sul Ross is 3-12 on the season and 1-8 in LSC play. Their lone conference win comes against Eastern New Mexico last weekend with a 3-0 victory.

Three Lobos have recorded more than 70 kills on the season, with Cassandra Espinoza, Danielle Senak, and Samantha Senak recording 79, 76, and 74 kills, respectively. Eliana Mata powers the Lobo attack with 182 of the Lobos' 371 assists.

Samantha Senak also leads in blocks with 27.0, 13 solo and 14 assisted, while BreAnna Quarles leads in digs with 97.
