WICHITA FALLS, Texas – The Cameron University men's tennis team finished the final day of the ITA South Central Regional Tournament with a bang, capturing finals wins in both the main draw and consolation bracket.
In the semifinals of the singles main draw, No.16 seed
Lukas Janousek earned a fought back from a first set loss to grab a three-set victory over No.11 seed Malo Poulesquen from UT Tyler, 2-6, 6-3, 6-4.
In the finals match of the singles main draw, Janousek took the first set against Lubbock Christian's Andres De Los Rios Kolejewska, 6-4. He then clinched the regional championship, winning the second set in a tiebreaker, 7-6, (7-2).
Playing in the semifinals of the singles consolation draw,
Santiago Ledesma took down Rowan Olsen from Midwestern State, 6-0, 6-0.
In the singles consolation draw finals match, Ledesma picked up the first set, 6-2, over Midwestern State's Tomas Leguizamon Chaves before winning the consolation championship victory in the second set, 6-3.
With winning the ITA South Central Regional, Janousek earns an automatic bid to the ITA Cup, hosted at the Rome Tennis Center in Rome, GA from October 16-19.
