Arlington, Texas- The Women's Tennis Team went south for a tough challenge facing up against NCAA Division I opponent UT Arlington. The Aggies lost the match 7-0 but a look into the scores shows a tight contest. UTA got off to the early start with the doubles point by clinching the #2 and #3 positions 6-3 and 6-2, abandoning the #1 doubles match 5-4.
Seniors Uspenskaia and Jankowska led the push in the singles taking the top two positions into exciting matches coming just short in both sets. Senior
Magda Wawrowska battled with her opponent who managed to maintain enough of a lead to hedge off a comeback, as well as fellow senior
Kateryna Rudenko falling 6-4, 6-2 after making a strong comeback in the first set. At #5 singles, freshman
Anna Deuringer chased the more experienced senior and just couldn't find enough answers for the win. Freshman
Alexsa Paucar played a great match with the lead bouncing back and forth between the opponents constantly, before Paucar's opponent held on to the victory in the tiebreaker.
The team is scheduled to be back in action against Collin College and Tyler Junior College in Plano, TX on February 18th playing a match rescheduled from last week due to weather. Hopefully the weather will cooperate this time around.
